Transylvania March was composed in 1940 in connection with the reunification of Northern Transylvania with Hungary following the Second Vienna Award. The lyrics were written by Gyula Somogyváry, and the music is attributed to Major General Antal Náray.

The work follows a traditional march structure, opening with firmly articulated strains that establish a ceremonial and resolute character. In the Trio section, the song beginning with the line “Elhangzott a szó, zeng az induló…” appears, integrating a vocal element into the march form.

Unlike many marches that conclude with a return to the opening material, this composition features a Dal Segno return to the Trio, allowing the song to be heard again in full. This structural decision places emphasis on the lyrical material, shaping the work toward a concluding reaffirmation of its central melodic idea.

Transylvania March represents a characteristic example of Hungarian ceremonial music from the early 1940s, combining disciplined march construction with the expressive force of patriotic song.
