This is the lyrical, triple meter slow movement, actually called Pieds-en-l'air, from the famous Capriol Suite originally for string orchestra. Lush harmonies and colorful textures make this contrasting piece ideal for concert or contest use. Several smaller groups within the band get an opportunity for some chamber playing. Blend, balance, intonation and smooth legato playing are all elements that make this piece a great warmup as well.
