Tracing Time was commissioned by the WMC Kerkrade Foundation in cooperation with the Foundation of Friends of WMC for the 2017 World Championships in Kerkrade, the Netherlands. The musical material of this piece takes the form of a timeline on an imaginary mental map. This unbroken thread runs through the entire work, continually transformed through numerous sound colours and rhythms. At the same time, the piece takes the shape of a symphonic structure, based on three uninterrupted, linked movements. This work meets all standards of a high quality contest or concert work. It is challenging, spectacular, innovative and overwhelming.

Tracing Time is geschreven in opdracht van de Stichting WMC Kerkrade in samenwerking met de Stichting Vrienden van het WMC voor de Wereldkampioenschappen 2017 in Kerkrade (Nederland). Het muzikale materiaal is gevormd als een tijdlijn op een denkbeeldige mentale plattegrond. Deze draad loopt door de hele compositie heen en wordt voortdurend getransformeerd door middel van talrijke klankkleuren en ritmes. Tegelijkertijd neemt het werk een symfonische structuur aan, gebaseerd op drie ononderbroken, aan elkaar verbonden delen. De muziek voldoet aan alle eisen voor een eersteklas wedstrijd- of concertwerk. Uitdagend, spectaculair, innovatief en meeslepend!

Tracing Time entstand im Auftrag der WMC Kerkrade Foundation in Zusammenarbeit mit der Foundation of Friends of WMC für den World Music Contest 2017 in Kerkrade (Niederlande). Das musikalische Material dieses Stücks gleicht einer Zeitlinie auf einer imaginären, geistigen Landkarte. Diese Linie durchzieht die gesamte Dauer des Werkes und wird in zahlreichen Klangfarben und rhythmischen Konstellationen immer wieder neu beleuchtet und gedeutet. Parallel dazu entwickelt sich eine sinfonische Form, basierend auf drei miteinander verbundenen Sätzen. Dieses Werk erfüllt alle Anforderungen an ein hochwertiges Wettbewerbs- und Konzertstück. Es ist anspruchsvoll, fantastisch, innovativund überwältigend.

Tracing Time est une commande de la fondation WMC Kerkrade, en coopération avec la Foundation of Friends of WMC, pour le Championnat du Monde 2017 Kerkrade aux Pays-Bas. La matière musicale de cette œuvre prend la forme de chronologie d’une carte mentale imaginaire. Ce fil conducteur traverse l’œuvre entière et se transforme continuellement en de nouveaux rythmes et couleurs sonores. En même temps, elle assume une structure symphonique basée sur trois mouvements enchaînés. Cette œuvre satisfait toutes les normes d’une pièce de concours ou de concert de haute qualité : elle est exigeante, spectaculaire, innovante et irrésistible.
