Toyland Big Band - Sheet Music

This Victor Herbert holiday favorite from "Babes in Toyland" makes a return for your little big band! The original stage production opened at the Chicago Grand Opera House in 1903. This harmonically fresh jazz waltz and up-swing arrangement features a very reasonable lead trumpet range and ample solo opportunities in both the trombone and optional guitar parts. The exciting upbeat swing section provides open choruses for trombone and guitar solos, as desired. Piano and bass parts are both fully notated. Guter's arrangement benefits from some added mute shadings (harmon and bucket) and some gentle re-harmonization. While the arrangement calls for acoustic bass, an electric bass could be used instead. With a few improvised solo choruses, "Toyland" weighs in at just about four minutes -- the perfect addition to your holiday program! Trumpet range G5. Scored for A,T,B, 2 Trpts, 1 Bone, G, P,B,D. Medium.
