Composed for the Greater Dallas Handbell Association, Tower Praises begins as though we were hearing tower bells from afar in the countryside. The entire piece has many slow, drifting scale passages which are paired with an original melody. This melody is both hidden in the middle bells and can also be found in broad, sweeping, forte passages. The center section is based on the English "method" of tower ringing known as "Plain Hunt Major" and takes ringers back in history to the roots of tower ringing. Voicing: 3, 4, 5 or 6 octaves handbells Composer: Karen Lakey Buckwalter Tune source: Original Season: General Level: 3.
