Pros and cons of Toccata for trumpets.
Pros:Difficult and engaging rhythmusLots of dynamic changes and music notationDemanding tempo of 120bpm and in cut timeTons of accidentalsLots of tough tonguingCons: Very short songChords are terrible, and very common. For example, the chord B flat and B natural are played together constantly over and over again. Extremely low notes, down to below the staff F#Lackluster ending, leaving much to be desired Overall sound of the music. Sounds like carnival music, and doesn't fit into the theme of solo/ensemble or any other formal event.In conclusion, if you are looking for a contest piece to play with 2 other of your friends, look else where, for this song takes a lot of practice to master, but hardly is worth it for it's non compatibility with any formal competition. If I were you, I'd stay away from this one.
