While the text is reminiscent of other prayers (Teresa of Avila comes to mind) that emphasize the works that are done on earth in the name of Christ, the accompaniment brings a sort of restrained urgency that is inspiring, yet soothing. Each verse ends with a chant-like "Alleluia" that perhaps evokes a feeling of what life in the world might be if we were to answer this call.
