Three Selections from the Third Book of Songs III for Flute Quartet by John Dowland Flute Quartet - Digital Sheet Music

John Dowland (1562 – 1626) was a lutenist and singer in the Renaissance Period. The lute was a stringed instrument, most closely related to our guitar. He wrote quite a lot of music that is still played and sung by guitarists and singers today. Although his music was written for stringed instruments in general, many arrangers have adapted his works for wind instruments. These 3 pieces come from Dowland's "Third and Last Booke of Songs or Aires," which was published in 1603. Because these songs were written for the voice, I've included the lyrics so you'll know what each song is about. The lyrics are written as Downland wrote them.
