These three trios have been written with developing players in mind. They are intended to be a fun modern twist on counterpoint. The first movement, 'Groovy Counterpoint' relies heavily on imitation, as does the second movement, 'Blues'. The final movement, 'Piece of Rag', is in ragtime style, with crisp chordal rhythms, alternating with each part stating it's melodies and riffs in turn. With their jazzy rhythms, and appealing blue tinges to the harmonies, this is a great collection of pieces.
