Three Little Pieces by Augusta Holmès arranged for Alto Saxophone solo with Piano (originally for flute with piano). This set of three short pieces shows Holmès’ fondness for popular music. It pays homage to her Irish heritage in its inspired use of Irish rhythms. Each piece can stand on its own but due to their contrasting character, they make a very nice little suite when programmed together.

This arrangement of Three Little Pieces is for Alto Saxophone solo with Piano. The original key of all three movements has been retained. The saxophone part is transposed one octave down throughout. The first movement is in the key of D major, putting the saxophone part in B major; however, the piece is a little slow and it lays under the fingers well. Taken as a whole, the set of pieces is of moderate difficulty. Thanks to clear rhythms and well-written piano support, intermediate sax players should find success with this set.

- Chanson – moderately slow – a simple song with fluid ornamentation with harp-like chords in the piano
- Clair de lune – slow and lyrical – a quiet melody suspended over a subtle piano accompaniment
- Gigue – fast and boisterous – a whimsical Irish jig with French harmonic inspiration
