Three Hundred and Fifteen Million Seconds (Rob Bushnell) - Concert Band by Rob Bushnell Concert Band - Digital Sheet Music

By Rob Bushnell

Three Hundred and Fifteen Million Seconds was commissioned by Gaëtan Manchon on behalf of the Orchestre d'Harmonie d'Ernée in France. It was written to celebrate Gaëtan’s 10th year with the Orchestre, hence the – rounded – title (315,569,520 seconds is 10 years). The piece starts with a fanfare to celebrate everything that that Gaëtan and the Orchestre have achieved. A simple, hymn-like melody, influenced by Gaëtan’s roots in Brittany, takes over before a brief return to the celebratory music turns solemn and pensive. This new section draws parallels with the Orchestre’s development, all hinged around a central trumpet solo (Gaëtan’s main instrument). An interjection of another or the composer’s works, ‘… and has forgotten the gift.’, is heard as this was the piece that led to the commission. Celebration returns before the two main melodies combine before the finale concludes the work. This piece is published with kind permission of Gaëtan Manchon and Catherine Montembaut from the Ernée Harmonie Association.
