I arranged "This Guy's in Love With You" for my high school jazz band. It's a perfect vehicle to feature your trombone soloist on a beautiful ballad from 1968. This tune was a huge "hit" for Heb Alpert and A&M Records, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in June of that year, and remaining in the top position for four weeks. This arrangement also contains a trumpet solo, included to pay homage to Herb Alpert. While there is no improvisation required, I did include space for short solos from the trombonist. With a little tinkering, this chart could also work as a vocal feature. Perfect for a band's "Pops" concert or as part of a dance library.
