So much music in so little time
The 3rd String Quartet by Bartok was the first quartet that I listened to written by him. After the first time, I was amazed. If one wants to listen to a true modern or fresh work for string quartet, this is the one. The score so far is accurate. The only complaint I have is the price. I have another String Quartet that has the same amount of pages, but it was cheaper. Maybe, the reason is that Bartok's Quartet is under copyright protectection and the other work is not. For those who want to study a 20th Century work that sound modern today as it did when it was first performed, this is the work.
