Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). This edition: pdf. 21st Century, Advent, Christian, Sacred. 11 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #1451006. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.1892440).
There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars! Let your choir find its prophetic voice with this accessible choral work.
A mix of dread and joy reflect the powerful text from the Gospel of Luke, with modal harmonies tumbled in with dissonances. The four-part choral setting has no divisi and is accessible and satisfying for a high school or community choir. The Andean wooden bombo with a goat-skin head may be substituted with a tam tam or any kind of medium or large skin drum.
Text — Gospel of Luke 21:25-28 NRSV
"There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see “the Son of Man coming in a cloud” with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads because your redemption is drawing near."
This text falls on the first Sunday of Advent in the commonly used Year C liturgical Calendar, but may be useful on many other occasions as well.
This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global
