There Is A Balm In Gilead is a beautiful, meditative African American spiritual about our salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the balm that makes the wounded whole. This is based on scripture from Jeremiah 8:22, but also refers to the salvation that is all throughout the New Testament. This song is a favorite of my church choir and I decided to create a piano solo arrangement that can be used for worship services. This song is dedicated to a church member, Courtney Mauzy, who has a particular fondness for this song and the meaning behind it. While I was working on the arrangement and “playing” around with it at church, he mentioned how much he loved it to me. So, this one is for you, Courtney. I hope you enjoy playing my version of "There Is A Balm In Gilead”.
