The Beautiful Blue Danube was composed in 1866 to celebrate the Danube River in central and eastern Europe. At the time it was written, the waltz was the newest and most popular dance in Germany. Today players and audience still enjoy its joyful rhythm and melody. Its theme is arranged here as an Easy/Beginner Piano Solo in the key of C major. It serves as a melodic introduction to the classic waltz form and to markings for crescendo, decresendo, and pedal, and it is suitable for performance in a recital as well.
