Das vorliegende Bläserquintett komponierte der 21-jährige Bojidar Dimov 1956. es ist mit einigen jahren Abstand das älteste heute noch vom Komponisten als vollgültig in das Werkverzeichnis eingereihte Werk. Es entstand während Dimovs Studium an der Musikhochschule Sofia. Die Uraufführung des Quintetts fand aber erst knapp vier Jahrzehnte nach seinem Entstehen, nämlich am 15. März 1996 im Glashaus der Rhinischen Musikschule köln, statt.
