"The Wind Cries Mary" was recorded by The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the end of a session in February, 1967, in just twenty minutes without prior rehearsal. It has since been included in Rolling Stone magazine's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list.

This arrangment for SATB and piano is suitable for community choirs. I have tried to create a 'voice-on-the-wind' in the accompanying voices, whilst moving the tune around between parts. Whilst there is a lot of syncopation, the overall feel of the song, I hope, is laid-back and bluesy rather than crisply rhythmic.
