The Song was first recorded by Kamhal in 1982 for a country & western album he was recording, but stated it was not commercially viable because it was felt it did not suit the country & western style. Instead Roger Whittacker recorded the song, as well as other well known artists who had charted versions of it. The highest charted version of the song was by Bette Midler in 1988 from the soundtrack to the Movie 'BEACHES' It was released By Bette Midler in 1989 and spent 1 week at No 1 in US charts. It also won Grammy Awards & Record Song/Song of The Year in 1990.
This Arrangement has been done as a solo for Bb Flugelhorn or Bb Cornet and captures the real essence of this beautiful melody line in all its glory and would be a great addition to any soloists port folio, and is a real audience pleaser.
