The White Rose was commissioned by the White Rose Concert Band from Harrogate, England. The band takes its name from the county symbol of Yorkshire, the white rose. This partly rhythmic, party lyrical piece opens with a flourish from the trumpets. Following a rhythmic melody in the clarinets there are solo passages for flute and trumpet leading to the finale which brings together elements of the whole piece. The White Rose entstand als Auftragsarbeit für die White Rose Concert Band aus Harrogate in England. Der Name des Orchesters - die weiße Rose - ist zugleich das Symbol für Yorkshire. Dieses teils rhythmische, teils lyrische Werk streicht neben Solopassagen für Flöte und Trompete die Holzbläser heraus, bietet aber auch dem gesamten Blasorchester die Möglichkeit, sich zu präsentieren.
