The Wexford Carol
For Baritone or Bass Vocalist and Cello Duet to Cello Choir
This Christmas Irish Folk Carol Arranged here by Dina H. L. Slechta, is written with one sharp in the key signature, moving from D Mixolydian to D Dorian and back to D Mixolydian, and from 4/4 into 3/4.
The Vocal Part ranges from A2-C4 as written in Bass Clef, to be sung by a Baritone or Bass Vocalist.
The Cello Parts are accessible to Intermediate Level Cellists, including use of Syncopation, Double Stops, Extensions, Natural Harmonics, Tremolo, and Col Legno.
The melody can be sung by a vocalist or played as the Violoncello A part. A single cellist can accompany the soloist choosing B, C, and D parts to play for various verses.
Suggestion:
Verses 1 and 4 - Violoncello D
Verse 2 - Violoncello B
Verse 3 - Violoncello C
The four parts can also be played together by a Cello Quartet or Cello Choir, or three parts by cellists and the melody sung by a vocalist.
