The Way It Was What Was was written initially for my high school Workshop Jazz & Rock Rock group. A good piece for a concert opener, it"s loud and quick at 180 bpm. The ensemble features Alto and Tenor Sax,Trumpet, Drum Set, and Elctric Guitar which takes the opening verse,followed by the Piano and then the horns in unison, There is a bit of a "call and response" verse for the 3 hirns although using the verse melody. should be used as an improvised dialog between the three. The drum breaks should be improvised as well.
