The Water is Wide is a Scottish folk song from the 16th-17th century that gained much attention from a national TV performance in Japan. I first arranged it for small band, and then rearranged it with full orchestration, voices, and countermelodies for dual grade use. The piece is to be utilized as a basic training chorale, focusing on melody and harmony more than Scottish traditional elements. There is an intended element of entrance like "Elsa' s Procession to the Cathedral" so the opening is an homage to that work.
