The Water is Wide by Folk Song Piano Method - Digital Sheet Music

By Folk Song

This arrangement focuses on varying dynamics in righthand melodic expression and lefthand root note and chord accompaniment with a repeated rhythm pattern. There are three variations of the melody. In the first one, it Is played more softly with broken chords in eighth notes accompanied by chord roots. In the second one, it is heard more strongly in a higher range with octaves and full chords accompanied by ascending arpeggios and block chords. In the third one, it is heard most strongly in the original middle octave with chords accompanied by chord root notes, fifths and arpeggios. An introductory melodic figure is repeated between the sections and serves as an ending.
