The Village on River Mark is gecomponeerd ter gelegenheid van het 110-jarig bestaan van Harmonie ‘Constantia’ uit Ulvenhout. Dit werk beschrijft in vijf aaneengesloten delen de landelijke en bosrijke omgeving van het dorp Ulvenhout met haar rivier de Mark. Het zes-tonige thema verwijst naar de stijl van Anton Bruckner en Gustav Mahler. Mede door de afwisseling in tempo’s en sferen is dit een mooi programmatisch werk wat zeer herkenbaar is voor de luisteraar en heel interessant voor de speler.

The Village on River Mark was composed to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Wind Band ‘Costantia’ from Ulvenhout in the Netherlands. In five connected parts this work describes the rural and forested areas surrounding the village Ulvenhout situated on the river Mark. The six-tone theme is in the style of Anton Gustav Mahler. With changes in tempo and mood, this is a beautiful programmatic work, which is pleasurable for the listener, and interesting for the musicians.

Le Village on River Mark est composé à l'occasion du 110ème anniversaire de l'Harmonie 'Constantia' d'Ulvenhout. Cet ouvrage décrit en cinq parties consécutives l'environnement rural et boisé du village d'Ulvenhout avec sa rivière Mark. Le thème en six tons fait référence au style d'Anton Bruckner et Gustav Mahler. En partie à cause de l'alternance de tempos et d'atmosphères, c'est une belle œuvre programmatique qui est très reconnaissable pour l'auditeur et très intéressante pour le musicien.

The Village on River Mark entstand anlässlich des 110. Jahrestages der Harmonie "Constantia" aus Ulvenhout. Dieses Werk beschreibt in fünf aufeinander folgenden Teilen die ländliche und waldreiche Umgebung des Dorfes Ulvenhout mit seinem Fluss Mark. Das sechstönige Thema bezieht sich auf den Stil von Anton Bruckner und Gustav Mahler. Teilweise wegen des Wechsels in Tempi und Atmosphären ist dies ein schönes programmatisches Werk, das für den Hörer sehr gut erkennbar und für den Spieler sehr interessant ist.
