This is the melody of a poem by Heinrich Heine. Two soldiers return to France after being imprisoned in Russia. The piece arranged for two violas must be played with empathy and patriotism! I have written a 2nd part not so much as an accompaniment, but as an equal and melodic part that creates a nice interplay with the first part. This is one of more duets where the pieces are taken from the Suzuki-school - and where the 2nd viola part has a more independent role than is usual in similar arrangements. The arrangements are available for 2 violins as well.
