Composed by Saint-Saëns / J.S. Bach. Arranged by Tara Hanish. This edition: pdf. Chamber, Classical, Romantic Period. Score. 3 pages. Strings Arranged #1298360. Published by Strings Arranged (A0.1737034).Two of the most iconic cello pieces come together in this fun and thoughtful cello duo arrangement: Saint-Saëns "The Swan" from "The Carnival of the Animals" paired with a cello accompaniment in the style of J.S. Bach's "Prelude from Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1. in G major."
This arrangement is great for gigging cellists and teachers / students alike! Teachers can accompany their students who are learning The Swan, or swap parts with a student or use in group ensembles where a more advanced student can learn the accompaniment part. It's also great to use on any cello duo performance gigs, and is bound to be a recognizable crowd-pleaser for all!
The Swan melody / Cello 1 part of this arrangement is almost completely identical to the usual tune all cellists know and love, and anybody can play off of their usual sheet music for the melody part. The ending of this arrangement is tweaked ever so slightly, though, to accommodate an iconic Bach 1 Prelude passage in the accompaniment. Included in this duo arrangement are both melody and accompaniment parts, with The Swan / Cello 1 part having added some accompaniment cues to make sense of the altered ending. There is also an optional cut notated that will make the arrangement work without an alteration to the ending, if preferred.
Difficulty level of the Cello 1 part: The Swan melody is the same difficulty as the usual tune.
Difficulty level of the Cello 2 part: the Bach-style accompaniment is more advanced than both The Swan and the usual Bach 1 Prelude. The bowing and fingering patterns are a little trickier than the Bach 1 Prelude (in part because of the different meter and chord progressions of The Swan), and it includes some heavier bariolage passages as well.
