This piece for orchestra has repetitive notes in each instrument. The phrasing, however, should be felt as longer breaths. The work is about tone color and balance that changes gradually. The harmonies change slowly from melancholy to joy. It can be played without a full ensemble since there is pitch doubling in all the parts.
While a dotted quarter syncompation is used throughout it is easy to perform, and most of the double stops in the strings include an open string as one of the pitches, so the music can be played by less experienced performers, and the work can be used as a teaching opportunity.
