Well written and challenging
More challenging than expected, good for a large, experienced chorus familiar with an old Hollywood musical sound. There is a recurring transition utilizing the 'ahh-ah-ah-ah descending motif from the title song; it is sung in 4 parts and was an unexpected challenge; the purpose it to modulate to another key for the next tune in the medley. I gave the top line to a soloist instead, mission accomplished. The melody of each tune is not solo voice or section over an accompanying harmonization but melody in one or two voice parts (including bass singing melody) with unexpected, but lovely, harmonies above and below. Although it says SATB, there are measures with 5-8 parts (SS AA TT BB. We sang it with one per part and a soloist for the descending motif. The final page is 8 parts clustered chords, dense texture, and your accompanist needs to read well. I think it's a great community chorus piece, really well written, but it's more than unison melodyATB.
