This is the Russian Song. It's full of tumultuous moments from furious to adventurous. There is a breakthrough of sunlight in the middle followed by a final wind down into melancholy.
I composed this song as a teenager. At the time I was struggling with emotions that I thought nobody has ever felt before, and I felt like I couldn't tell anybody about them. The piano has always been a place where I feel like I can speak up (through music), so this song was my quiet hope that things would get better.
Recording this as an adult was so freeing. It's been quite a few years between composing and publishing it, and since then I've learned that my past struggles were not unique, and that I am responsible for speaking up and also creating that brighter day for myself. Thanks so much for listening!
