The composition The Raid came about as a commission by the Sorenberg music association on their 75th jubilee. It loosely follows the Sorenberger legend of Windtrueb but also tells its own musical story. The legend tells the story of a braveman named Windtrueb who successfully fought against marauding cattle thieves, but was eventually killed. In the music, a lyrical theme containing the Sorenberg song creates a dramatic passage, whilst contemplative moments alternate with an energeticpulse. At the end of the piece triumph and tragedy are felt equally.
