WILLIAM H. MYDDLETON (1873-1950) was een Britse componist, dirigent, schrijver en amateur astronoom, die viool studeerde bij de beroemde Pablo de Sarasate en als violist heel wat reisde. Hij dirigeerde een theaterorkest in Sydney, Australië en het Carl Rosa Opera Orchestra in Londen. Hij schreef ook militaire muziek die hij met het pseudoniem Arnold Safroni tekende; zijn bekendste werk op dit domein is de mars 'Imperial Echoes'. Hij componeerde veel lichte orkestrale muziek en veel werken voor brassband en voor harmonieorkest, zoals 'Down South' en The Phantom Brigade dat tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog gecomponeerd werd en, uiteraard, een eerbetoon aan de doeltreffende Britse troepen is.

He conducted a theatre orchestra in Sidney, Australia and the Carl Rosa Opera Orchestra in London. He also wrote some music for military band, using the pen name Arnold Safroni; his most famous march being 'Imperial echoes'. He composed a lot of light orchestral music and many works for symphonic band and brassband, such as 'Down South' and The Phantom Brigade. The latter was composed during World War I and was obviously a homage to the efficient British troops in Flanders' Fields...

WILLIAM H. MYDDLETON (1873-1950) était un compositeur, chef d'orchestre, écrivain et astronome amateur anglais qui étudie le violon avec Pablo de Sarasate. Il fait d'abord de nombreuses tournées en soliste puis il dirige un orchestre de théâtre à Sidney en Australie, enfin le Carl Rosa Opera Orchestra à Londres. Sous le pseudonyme de Arnold Safroni, il écrit pas mal de musique militaire dont la célèbre marche 'Imperial Echoes'. Il compose aussi de la musique orchestrale légère et bon nombre d'oeuvres pour brassband et pour orchestre d'harmonie, telles 'Down South' et The Phantom Brigade (La brigade fantôme) pièce composée lors de la Première Guerre Mondiale en hommage aux troupes britanniques.

Er komponierte auch Militärmusik und verwendete dabei das Pseudonym Arnold Safroni: sein bekanntestes Stück im diesem Bereich war der Marsch 'Imperial Echoes'. Er schrieb viel Unterhaltungsmusik für Salonorchester, Brassband und Blasorchester wie 'Down South' und The Phantom Brigade, den Britischen Soldaten zu Ehren, das während des Ersten Weltkrieges komponiert wurde.
