The Peg-Leg Pirate Band
Unison/2-Part Mixed Voices (w/Optional Triangles/Rhythm Sticks/Kazoos/Recorder/Whistling/Humming)
This song has a lot going on! However, it is flexible enough that you can "pick & choose" which activities are a fot for your singers. You may also choose to so nothing but sing the song, an that's OK, too!
This song is mostly in unison because the lyrics can be a little wordy.
The only harmony is noted in a few of the "Yo-ho's."
Excellent for upper elementary & middle school students - ESPECIALLY THE BOYS!
Rhythm/instrument cues are included within the score which eliminates reading two different scores at the same time
Action cues are included as well
Performance Enhancer ideas, costume suggestions, and vocabulary list of "Pirate Lingo" used in the song are included on the last page of the score.
Melody is an adaptation of "The Drunken Sailor," a public domain sea chantey (1820)
Comfortable vocal range for both parts
Includes spoken word "RAP" sections
Triangles (representing the clanging of the pirate "hook"), Rhythm sticks (used as pirate swords)
Other options are recorders, kazoos, whistling, and/or humming some of the parts
Most rhythms are quarter not & eighth note combinations
Again - YOU CHOOSE which parts you would like to use! Be creative!
This could be a great production number!
