Spartacus’s “Adagio” is one of Aram Khachaturian’s most celebrated melodies, drawn from his ballet depicting the revolt led by the gladiator Spartacus in ancient Rome. Lyrical strings and sweeping orchestration create an atmosphere of profound love, longing, and nobility. The music became widely known in Britain as the theme from the BBC television series The Onedin Line, helping to introduce its passionate, cinematic sound to a wider audience beyond the concert hall.

This arrangement for flute and piano is ideal for the intermediate performer and would also be suitable for violin and and oboe too.
