By Snezana Ivkovic. Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Snezana Ivkovic. This edition: pdf. 19th Century, Children, Classical, Instructional. 12 pages. World Violin Academy #1231629. Published by World Violin Academy (A0.1665684).
"The Ode to Joy" for Violin Orchestra by Snezana Ivkovic is an arrangement for four sections of violins. It is an educational method for violin teachers, students, and self-learners.
The orchestra arrangement can be performed as a violin quartet, trio, duo, or solo violin. The colored scores make the musical parts visually attractive and easy to follow.
The violin sections are arranged by difficulty level. The third and second violin parts are designed for beginners and focus on playing open strings. The first and solo violin parts are suitable for first-grade students and require playing the melody in the first position. All parts incorporate fingerings and bowings.
Learning objectives include playing on all four strings, detached bowings, a pizzicato technique, and observing the F# sign. The piece also includes three dynamics mezzo forte, mezzo piano, and piano. Basic note values ranging from the quarters and whole notes to the eighth notes and the dotted quarters.
This piece has been performed by many violin students over the years in both slower and faster versions. However, the bowings have remained consistent following the student's musical ability and preference, avoiding the use of advanced portato and the bow lifting technique commonly found in other educational methods.
