Perhaps the most intimate of Hoagy Carmichaels great ballads, The Nearness Of You was composed for a Paramount film that was never produced, Romance In The Rough (often confused with the earlier Romance In The Dark). It was first published seperately in 1940 and has remained a classic pop standard to this day.
It's a great selection for receptions and wedding preludes.
