Composed by Joy Byford. 19th Century,A Cappella,Christmas,Traditional. Octavo. 8 pages. Joy Byford #787960. Published by Joy Byford (A0.1188365).SATB a cappella traditional style Christmas song, using words from a poem by Barry Cornwall (1787-1874)
Imagine a roaring log fire in an old house in winter, young people are gathering, coming in from the cold. The three verses speak of various decorations they bring in from outside - the laurel, the holly and the mistletoe. The tone is jolly and mischievous, and the piece finishes with the words:
'Ah nobody knows nor ever shall know
What is done under the mistletoe'
