Good quality binding and paper as usual from Schirmer but the actual music is a fuzzy reprint, very disappointing. My 1951 version is clearer in its print; I will be ordering Baerenreiter next time.

After hearing the recent Peter Brook adaptation of The Magic Flute where a solo piano plays all the music I wanted to play the score for myself. it is a beautiful, highly professional arrangement of the music, libretti included. It is wonderful to play and is a great value.

As a conductor, I play piano as well and enjoy the Schirmer Opera editions. I usually only use this brand for opera and Urtext for everything else. This edition delivers a good piano reduction and the binding is easy to hold down after good use of the book (so no need for a page turner every time). The English text is also included.
