This well-known hymn belongs to the essential repertoire when it comes to church concerts. This has to do with the way in which the work slowly develops. The start is very intimate and melancholic, eventually leading to an enormous climax, with a resounding (ad lib) organ. Erik Mast has given this traditional hymn a makeover - with an eye for detail and ample doublings in all parts.
Deze bekende hymne behoort tot het vaste repertoire als het gaat om kerkconcerten. Dat heeft te maken met de manier waarop dit werk zich langzaam ontvouwt. Het begint heel intiem en melancholisch en mondt uit in een geweldige climaxwaarbij er een orgel (ad libitum) weerklinkt. Erik Mast stak deze traditional in een nieuw jasje - met veel oog voor detail en voldoende verdubbelingen in alle partijen.
