American composer, pianist, and organist Albert Hay Malotte’s The Lord’s Prayer (1935) is one of the most beloved musical settings of the Christian text, admired for its lyrical and deeply expressive character. Malotte was a prolific composer who wrote film scores, cantatas, oratorios, musicals, and ballets. Originally composed for voice and piano, the piece was dedicated to the American baritone John Charles Thomas, who also gave the first recording of the work.
