THE LIONS ROAR may have the look, feel, and sound of a traditional march, but in the hands of imaginative and renowned composer Adolphus Hailstork, that tradition is only a starting point. Composed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Old Dominion University whose mascot is a lion, the title and music encapsulate the school’s spirit: the Lions ROAR!.
In his fifth year as Professor at Old Dominion University, Adolphus Hailstork composed this work for the school’s concert band in conjunction with celebrations of ODU’s 75th anniversary. The school’s mascot is a lion, and the title and music encapsulate the school’s spirit: the Lions ROAR!
