By Paul Taylor. Composed by STRAUSS. Arranged by Paul Taylor. This edition: pdf. 19th Century, Opera, Romantic Period. Score. 2 pages. Paul Taylor #1300383. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1739119).

This piano solo is a transcription of the most popular aria from Strauss's Die Fledermaus. Although the text does not appear, it might be beneficial if the pianist knows the story here behind the aria. Adele, the Marquis's chamber maid disguises herself to attend the ball and the Marquis threatens to expose her as a fake aristocrat. However, she dares him to expose her. If he exposes her, she promises to expose him for some embarrasing behavior regarding his subjects. The aria is punctuated with "ha, ha, ha, (hence, the Laughing Song), an exclamation that ridicules and dares the other to reveal the other's secrets.
