Excellent Chart for Advanced Jazz Students
This Grade 5 jazz ensemble chart of "The Jody Grind" by Horace Silver is a fantastic teaching tool. The arrangement by John Clayton is energetic and offers great opportunities for advanced students to develop their ensemble playing and soloing (tenor/trombone). The clear layout helps with complex rhythms inherent in funk jazz. It's challenging but incredibly rewarding for developing musicians in school and community ensembles.

As an adult learner playing in a community jazz band, this Grade 5 arrangement of Horace Silver's "The Jody Grind" is incredibly fun! It captures the funky energy of the original Clayton-Hamilton recording perfectly. It's definitely a challenge, especially with the ensemble punches and solos, but learning it feels so rewarding. It truly brings the band together for an energetic performance. Highly recommend for a thrilling group experience!
