The book contains the solo horn part

This book includes a piano part with the solo horn included above the piano part in a different key so the pianist can assist the student with pitches. The book ALSO contains the pull out solo horn part so the student can practice the solo without being confused by seeing the piano part. That is the part a student would take to solo contests and auditions while the piano player uses the score (both piano and solo parts for reference). There is also an audio CD. Nice collection and good price. Very useful for teaching or learning solos without a teacher.

    Incomplete information about this product

As an adult who looks for interesting opportunities to play along to practice, I was very disappointed when I received this product. Most of the selections were written for Horn in C, which I am not familiar with and don't care to learn at this point in my life. There was no indication on the website that this was the case and I looked forward to stretching my musical chops with some challenging pieces. However this was more than I wanted. I plan on returning this product. The website should indicate more about the challenges the product provides or make the view this product much larger so the tiny Horn in C on the page can be read.

    Interesting Collection

This is a comprehensive collection of movements from some of the more commonly played horn solos. Included are CDs with both a performance by a professional horn player and a piano accompaniment. While my preference is for the student to have the complete solo, I find that often they only get through one movement and then go on to another piece. This book includes the most commonly played movements such at the first movements of the Beethoven Sonata and the Richard Strauss 1st Horn Concerto. I have only started using it with students, but think it may be the answer to the problem of them not wanting to buy the pieces separately.
