By Stephen Adams
Anthem and Concert Version by Noble Cain

A timeless sacred classic, The Holy City features music by Michael Maybrick (writing under the pseudonym Stephen Adams) and lyrics by Frederic Weatherly. One of the most commercially successful songs in both the United Kingdom and the United States at the turn of the 20th century, its enduring appeal continues today. The three verses portray, in sequence, the jubilant crowd welcoming Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, His crucifixion, and the glorious vision of the “New Jerusalem” - a world of universal peace and brotherhood as foretold in Isaiah 2:4 and 11:6–9. This distinguished choral setting is by renowned composer, conductor, and educator Noble Cain.

Holy City
I looked long and hard for this music. I heard this hymn in church when I was growing up, and being able to purchase it for a solo was great....Great service. Thanks
