Composed by Daniel Hay. Contemporary,Multicultural,New Age,World. Individual part. 1 pages. Daniel Hay Music #5723733. Published by Daniel Hay Music (A0.596411).Probably the first composition the composer, Daniel Hay, created is the piece "The Hermit: for Oboe and Strings". This treble clef arrangement is the melody from that piece. It was an experiment in modified 12-tone music structure. A friend from his years in Junior High School provided the melody concept. Many years later "The Hermit" was one of many compositions lost during Hurricane Katrina. The original score had been recovered because it had been sent to the composer's friend. In the piece, the hermit is represented by the solo instrument, and society is represented by the strings. This solo version can be played by any treble clef instrument although it was first expressed as an Oboe.
