The Heifetz Scale Book - Endre Granat
Jascha Heifetz is considered by many to have been the greatest violinist of all time, and, to the rest of the violin world, he was and is an example of the highest level of playing to which we all should aspire. There is no doubt he was born with an enormous talent and a body and nervous system to support that talent. Add, receiving some of the best music and violin education available at that time and the result was a consummate violinist / musician.Heifetz had few students and the few he had learned largely by example and by exercises they were given by him but which he never put in print. This brings us to The Heifetz Scale Book. One of the finest of his students is Endre Granat. Now, Mr. Granat has done us all a very great service by putting in print the scales and arpeggios as Heifetz taught his students. I heartily recommend this book to all who desire to reach the highest levels of playing of which he or she is capable.Thank you Endre.

Concise though complete
This looks like it will be a useful book, filling in things that are left out of some other books. It is a thin book (compared to Flesch, for example), but there is a lot packed into its 62 pages.I had looked at this on another website where I could view the table of contents page, and there is a glaring discrepancy in it, that wasn't obvious until I had the book in hand. The book is organized into 12 units, one for each note in the chromatic scale, and for each unit there are 14 sections. The first section is listed in the table of contents as Two octave, single note scales and arpeggios, the second as Four octave, single note scales and arpeggios In reality, the first section consists of THREE octave, single note scales and arpeggios. It is surprising that no proofreader caught this discrepancy between what is in the table of contents and the actual content of the book, and I mention it because it might be significant to a prospective buyer.
