The Green Hill was commissioned by Swiss euphonium virtuoso Erich Schmidli. Bert Appermont dug deep into Celtic music for inspiration and created a fantasy that shows off the incredible, but often overlooked, versatility of the alto saxophone.Charming lyrical melodies, virtuosic runs and exciting, colourful tuttis (soloist and piano) create plenty of contrast in this exciting work. A beautiful piece for a spectacular showcase as alto saxophone player.
Mooie lyrische melodieën, virtuoze loopjes en kleurrijke tutti’s (solist en piano) die elkaar afwisselen, dat is The Green Hill van Bert Appermont. Hij schreef het in opdracht van euphonium virtuoos Erich Schmidli uit Zwitserland en Keltischemuziek vormde hierbij zijn inspiratie. Hij maakte er een fantasie van waarin alle facetten van de saxofoon aan bod komen. Een mooi werk om in de spotlights te staan!
The Green Hill wurde im Auftrag des schweizer Euphoniumspielers Erich Schmidli geschrieben. Bert Appermont ließ sich dazu von keltischer Musik inspirieren und schuf eine Fantasie, in der alle Facetten des Altsaxophons zur Geltung kommen.Schöne lyrische Melodien, virtuose Läufe und farbenreiche Tuttis (Solist und Klavier) wechseln einanander ab. Ein schönes Stück für die Bühne.
The Green Hill (La verte colline) est une oeuvre de commande taillée sur mesure pour le virtuoses suisse de l´euphonium Erich Schmidli. C´est en s´inspirant de la musique celtique que Bert Appermont a composé cette fantaisie, représentative detoutes les facettes de l´alto saxophone. La musicalité, l´expressivité et la couleur sonore de l´instrument sont soulignées par l´accompagnement pianistique particulièrement abouti. Un beau morceau de musique pour pouvoir se tenir sous les feux de larampe.
