Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky wrote this piece as the final movement of his 1874 piano suite "Pictures At An Exhibition". The suite became more popular after a 1922 arrangement for orchestra by Maurice Ravel. It has been recorded both by pianists and orchestras since then. This arrangement makes the song more approachable for less experienced players. It includes optional note names, an easier key, and valve position numbers to assist in learning it.
