THE GREAT COMMISSION is a sermon song which highlights Acts 1:1-11 and the prophecy of Joel 2:28 from a sermon delivered by Dr. Paul de Jong at First Presbyterian Church Fort Myers, Florida on April 7, 2024. On the day before, Rev. Roger Peterson, told the congregation by phone that the sermon coming, " The Great Commission," would describe a time when, " The world was turned upside down." That lead me to research the tune, of that title, that I knew was played by the British at the end of the Battle of Yorktown. I used that tune to produce unison singing for a congregation with a stirring piano accompaniment.
